FP FP RED EVO IX
NEW to the FP RED™ for the Evolution IX Line up is our own custom 80mm Flow Advancement Port™ compressor cover. You can now choose the new FP 80mm Flow Advancement Port™cover or stick with the standard 63mm Stock Appearing compressor cover as shown above. The larger inlet configuration helps reduce huffing and surging sounds that are often reported with these larger stock format hybrids when lugging the engine at low RPM and high boost pressure but perhaps even more useful is the way it helps feed the splitter blades of the compressor wheel resulting in increased flow. This larger inlet also increases the volume of the intake air pipe and reduces vacuum at the inlet of the turbo. Additionally the volute of the cover is now exactly tailored to the HTA wheel aero for the best performance possible.
The 80mm inlet Flow Advancement Port™ version can be used with our Intake Air Pipe which is located in the Related Products section at the bottom of the page. The intake is undercover black and designed to replace the stock intake air pipe perfectly allowing the use of the recirculated BOV and the valve cover crankcase vent as in the OEM application. The 80mm Flow Advancement Port™ cover can also be used with standard 3" air intake pipes by utilizing a straight 3" coupler also located in the Related Products section at the bottom of this page.
Product Description
Subaru FP 20G

The FP Red turbocharger for the EVOIX is the only stock format turbo capable of delivering 550+whp with some examples recording over 600whp. Typical installations of this turbo result in mid to upper 400's on pump gas and mid to upper 500's on race gas depending on ambient temperature and related mods to the car in question. Typical boost threshold is about 3700RPM with some cars spooling up slower or faster depending on camshaft selection and other variables. The turbocharger should be operated at 22-24psi on pump gas and about 30-35psi spike dropping to 25-27psi by redline in race gas applications.
Using the turbocharger for higher boost race gas applications requires the use of the full flow oil feed line to supply adequate oil to the thrust bearing of the turbocharger. As of June 1, 2009 we will no longer offer free repair service to Reds run at high boost with the factory oil feed line. See the related link at the bottom of the page for the recommended oil supply solution for high boost (25psi or more) applications.
In typical Forced Performance fashion, a new breed of high horsepower turbos are now available for the Subaru WRX and STI in bolt on configuration. The FP2006 or FPWRX20G features a 44lb minute compressor and huge TDO6H turbine wheel. The FPWRX20G typically produces 350-380WHP with astounding spool up response and efficiency.
The FPWRX20G's 7cm ported exhaust housing retains the stock Subaru flange patterns. An internal wastegate is standard on the FP20G with an adjustable 15psi high pressure actuator and is capable of filling the Subaru motor with over 25 psi of boost if called upon. Install is simple and straightforward, allowing use of existing exhaust and intercooler components.
This 20g turbo offers similar pump gas performance to our FPGreen model, while reducing the boost threshold by a couple hundred RPM due to its slightly smaller compressor wheel. These slightly smaller lower interia rotating components benefit applications where pump gas is the primary fuel used and boost pressures do not exceed 22psi. Applications requiring higher power output above 22psi would select the FPGreen model over this 20G.
This unit operates very effectively in the 18-25psi range on the 2.5 STi engine, but is slightly lower in maximum power output on race gas (boost above 22psi) compared to our FPGreen model. Many daily driver applications will find that the slight reduction in boost threshold is more than a fair trade for the slightly lower power output on race gas that they never plan on running anyway. Porting, new coolant lines and internal wastegate are already included in the price of this turbocharger and do not result in additional charges!

Dual Ball Bearing GT2871R turbo assembly with T25 style turbine inlet. Comes with internal wastegate pre-assembled when purchased with T25 style housing.
Optional "T3/T4 drop-in" style turbine housing available for an easy retrofit into older T3 based applications where T3 turbine the inlet flang is required and either internal or external wastegate are used (internal wastegate assembly is not included when ordering T3/T4 drop-in configuration).
This turbo is great for small displacement engines up to 2.2L and has the ultimate spool up time compared to other units. This turbo has a flow capacity of about 400HP. The external packaging of this turbo is identical to that of the GT28RS and can be a nice stealthy upgrade to step up to 400HP of flow without much re-arrangement.

Turbo is the newest addition to the Garrett Ball Bearing Line up. It fills in the requirements for small displacement 4 cyl. engines and has a excellent response characteristics. It spools up 1,000 RPM sooner than the older GT30R. Compressor housing is T04E frame size with 2.00 outlet. Compressor inlet is available with 2.75 or 4.00 inlet. Standard (default) turbine housing is first one listed (T3 inlet with 3" 4 bolt "GT" conical discharge flange) and various other turbine housing options are available for easy retrofit into applications where your turbine housing type is already dictated by your current turbo. Please note: Turbine housing choice will determine final calculated cost of turbo in the shopping basket.
